Position: SUMMER PROGRAMS PART-TIME SCIENCE EDUTAINMENT INSTRUCTOR

SpaceTime is Colorado’s premier science-based edutainment provider.  We teach kids basic concepts in science through fun space science-based programs and are now hiring instructors for after-school programs, special events and camps.

Job Description

SpaceTime is looking for animated, energetic & kid-savvy individuals to teach our science-based workshops, camps and enrichment programs to kids grades kindergarten through 6th and perform and/or assist in the performance of space science-based shows at special events for kids ages 5 through 14.  They may also act as instructors or assist in the instruction of space science-based programs at SpaceTime events & assemblies.  Other details include:

  • Working in and around the greater Denver area.

  • Working at schools, homes, libraries, parks, community & rec centers, businesses, and other space science-friendly locations.

  • Roughly 8 hours of work per week to start.  The option to increase the number of hours worked is dependant on instructor performance and event availability.

Qualifications/Requirements

A SpaceTime Instructor may be a teacher, educator, actor, performer, scientist, childcare provider or any other professional who has experience working with children.  Other requirements include:

  • A fun and outgoing personality

  • At least 1 year of experience working with school-aged children (5 – 14)

  • The ability to teach, entertain & perform

  • A strong work ethic (responsible, dependable, punctual, etc.)

  • A solid knowledge of general space science

  • Access to dependable transportation and a working cell phone

  • Access to email and ability to send & receive attachments

  • Completion of at least 1 year of college

  • A flexible schedule and availability at least 4 weekdays (9a-4p) per week & 2 Saturdays (10a-4p) per month (total: 8-20 hrs/week)

  • Willingness to undergo background checks

  • Willingness to wear SpaceTime uniform - branded polo-type shirt & a white painters cap (provided)

Compensation

  • $14.00 per hour to start plus mileage
  • Paid training (compensation takes place after first 60 days of employment)
  • Incentive benefits after first 120 days of employment
